The Client
Nestled within the Spanish Pyrenees in Baqueira Beret, La Pleta has been transformed into a rustic mountain ski retreat encapsulating stylish understated luxury and a cozy atmosphere. The hotel features 70 rooms and suites with mountain views, two restaurants for fine dining and relaxed lunches, a large veranda, cigar bar and spa.
Challenge
Prohotel was approached by the Rafael Hotel Group to convert La Pleta from a 4-star property into a luxury product in order to increase the average room rate. Occupancy was notably low so the challenge was to upgrade and redesign this 2-year-old property, and channel the experience of a well oiled 5-star mountain lodge which would ultimately raise significant demand.
Strategy
The vision was to overhaul and improve all the hotel facilities from each room to the public areas. We implemented the Occitania Spa, which allowed La Pleta the new dimension of a ‘pampering mountain escape.’ The restaurants were also upgraded to offer a diverse take on mountain style cuisine including international fine dining with a Catalonian twist as well as a sushi restaurant, chic veranda café and cigar bar.
Result
As a consequence, Prohotel’s upgraded amenities maximized revenue. The average room rate was doubled and the spa alone now generates over €35,000 a month. La Pleta became a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and has won prestigious awards denoting it as one of the best ski resorts in Europe. Clientele has included both royalty and celebrities and the hotel remains attractive to couples and families alike.
